Under the agreement with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, the Research Council of Lithuania finances projects related to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 disease and related conditions, and modernisation of education, pandemic management and mitigation of its negative effects, and other issues in order to cover all aspects of the problems identified therein.
The projects were selected following a call for proposals based on a list of 19 relevant topics related to coronavirus, its consequences and impact, prepared by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports. It is important that, upon completion of the projects, evidence-based recommendations, methodologies, advanced qualification programmes, descriptions, systems, tools, platforms, models, prototypes and other results identified in the topics presented by the ministries are provided.
The 12 best expertly evaluated projects are funded:
- In the field of health - 5 projects
- In the field of education - 7 projects
Almost EUR 3 million of European Union funds for the period 2021–2027 have been allocated to the projects.
