Information Technologies for the Development of Science and Knowledge Society (Impact-driven programme)

The purpose of the Programme is to establish an ecosystem of competencies in emerging and rapidly evolving scientific fields, such as information technology and quantum computing. This initiative aims to significantly influence Lithuanian and global science, the economy, and society in the near future.

For the 2024–2028 period, the Programme has two primary objectives. Research under these objectives is funded through a competitive tender process supported by the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.

Objective 1. Promote scientific research in emerging and rapidly advancing fields of information technology. These efforts aim to: develop advanced, transformative innovations; facilitate the application of research outcomes and acquired competencies; strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors, academia, and other institutions; enhance public engagement with science by popularizing scientific achievements and results within both the scientific community and society.

Objective 2. Support research on quantum computing and its application across various disciplines. This includes: promote research on quantum computing encouraging the practical application of research outcomes; enhancing the competencies of researchers in quantum computing.
