International EDU Forum in Vilnius to Bring Together Education Researchers and Practitioners to Explore Solutions for the School of the Future
How do educational research findings reach policymakers? What insights help teachers better understand how students learn and improve their teaching methods? How can we address challenges related to the quality of education and the diverse needs of learners in a rapidly changing world? These topics will be explored at the second forum of the Educational Research Breakthrough (EDU) project, Global Perspectives in Educational Research, taking place on 11–12 November at the Research Council of Lithuania (RCL).
The forum will bring together an international community of educational researchers, education policymakers, teacher educators and practitioners. The two-day programme will feature keynote presentations by international experts, thematic sessions, discussions and practical workshops.
Participants will explore the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in teaching, learning and assessment, the potential of learning analytics, approaches to STEAM education, the development of mathematical thinking, and challenges related to inclusive education, teachers’ professional development and the assessment of educational quality. Discussions will also focus on how research findings can inform education policy decisions and improve teaching practices.
Keynote presentations will be delivered by experts from international universities and research institutions. Drew Story, former Director of MIT Policy Lab, will discuss the connections between educational research, policy and practice. Liudvika Leišytė, Professor at TU Dortmund University and President of the European Higher Education Society, will examine the relationship between collaboration and competition in teacher education. Mahsa McCauley, Associate Professor at Auckland University of Technology, will explore the skills that are essential in the age of artificial intelligence, while Jon R. Star, Professor at Harvard University, will highlight the importance of mathematical flexibility in student learning. Lithuanian and international experts will share their insights during panel discussions, while practical workshops will offer participants opportunities to explore specific research methods and their applications in education.
The second EDU Forum is organised as part of the EDU project implemented by the Research Council of Lithuania. The project aims to strengthen dialogue between research, education policy and practice, facilitate international knowledge exchange and foster collaboration relevant to the future of education in Lithuania.
The forum will take place on 11–12 November 2026 at the Research Council of Lithuania, Gedimino Ave. 3, Vilnius.
The forum will be held in English. It will be moderated by science journalist and writer Goda Raibytė-Aleksa.
