RCL Announces a Call for Applications to Participate in International Summer School Programmes

The Research Council of Lithuania (RCL) invites applications for participation in international summer school programmes abroad. The purpose of this call is to provide students of Lithuanian higher education and research institutions with the opportunity to become acquainted with the processes implemented by foreign research and higher education institutions to encourage student engagement in research activities, to present themselves and their academic interests, and to establish collaborative links with international student communities and/or researchers.

Applications may be submitted until 22 April 2026, 4:00 PM.

Participation in summer school programmes is considered an academic activity involving attendance at an international summer school programme held abroad and organised by a foreign higher education institution, research institution, international research infrastructure, scientific society, or organisation.

The maximum funding available per application is EUR 3,000.

Funding is available only for in-person summer school programmes taking place between 1 May and 31 October 2026 (inclusive of travel days).

Eligible costs include:

  • Summer school participation (tuition) fee;
  • Accommodation expenses;
  • Travel expenses to and from the host country;
  • Travel insurance and visa fees;
  • Local transportation expenses in the host country related to travel between the airport and the summer school venue and/or accommodation.

Students may apply if they:

  1. Are enrolled in first-cycle (Bachelor’s), second-cycle (Master’s), or integrated study programmes at a Lithuanian higher education and research institution.

  2. Hold a valid study agreement with a Lithuanian higher education and research institution at the time of application submission to RCL and throughout the period of participation in the summer school.

  3. Have achieved a weighted grade point average of 8.0 or higher in the most recent semester for which all examinations have been completed.

If the most recent semester was completed at a foreign higher education and research institution, the weighted average grade for that semester must be at least 80% of the maximum weighted average grade applicable at that institution.

The start and end dates of summer school programmes are determined individually by each organising institution and may therefore not coincide with the official summer vacation period in Lithuania or abroad. However, eligible programmes must begin no earlier than 1 May and end no later than 31 October 2026 (inclusive of travel days).
