Research Council of Lithuania Appoints Prof. Vita Akstinaitė to the LRT Council

On 3 June 2026, the Research Council of Lithuania (RCL) appointed Prof. Vita Akstinaitė, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Staff at ISM University of Management and Economics and Professor of Management, to serve on the Council of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT).

The decision was made following an open public selection process, during which candidates were assessed based on their professional experience, competencies, reputation, and readiness to serve on the governing body of the national public broadcaster.

"A public broadcaster occupies a unique position in a democratic society. Its governing bodies therefore bear significant responsibility for strengthening public trust, safeguarding independence, and ensuring the organisation’s long-term development. We believe that Prof. Vita Akstinaitė’s extensive academic and managerial experience will be a valuable asset to the work of the LRT Council," says Prof. Juozas Augutis, Acting Chair of the Research Council of Lithuania.

Prof. Dr. Vita Akstinaitė holds a Master’s degree in Organisational Psychology and a Doctorate in Business from the United Kingdom. She is currently involved in international research projects examining contemporary leadership, work organisation, and the impact of technology on organisations.

The LRT Council is the highest governing body of the public broadcaster. It represents the interests of society and oversees the implementation of LRT’s public service mission.

Under the Law on the Lithuanian National Radio and Television, the Research Council of Lithuania is one of the institutions entitled to appoint a member to the LRT Council. Members of the LRT Council perform their duties independently and represent the interests of the public.
